I met Carlos who lives in London through a mutual friend Rafael, a Tennis Vault Member for 2 years now he told me that Carlos wanted to start playing tennis. He was going to take Carlos to buy his first racket, a gift from his girlfriend which I thought was cool, and asked me if I wouldn’t help out and jump start him on the right direction, put him on the correct tracks so he could train on his own what he learned and they’d be able to play together. In just a couple hours Carlos was hitting both his forehand and his one-handed backhand (which he chose after trying both kinds) very well already, first time ever in his life and the videos will show that it’s just a matter of some time practicing for him to become a good tennis player. Welcome to the sport Carlos, enjoy yourself!! …check him out

It didn’t take long for me to become good friends with Tennis Vault Member Joerg Schafer from Frankfurt in Germany. I much enjoyed spending time with him and his family, and helping their tennis games. We even convinced his wife Christiane to start playing… from scratch!!… Joerg has played some tennis in the past, therefore had original classic wood racket style kind of strokes, which we revamped real fast to a more modern looking forehand and backhand. Although still “baking in the oven”, here a couple videos of how his new stroke is shaping up to look like, after he practices and substitutes the old muscle memory

Down in South America doing my 1st Brazilian Tour, and the 3rd city now after being in Recife city and the island city of Ilhabela is the big metropolis Sao Paulo, and now my dear ex-student from the past for these last two days for total scanning and revamping of all basic strokes has been Rodrigo Contro. Very much a special story happened between us, as we go back to 1985 here, when he was just a kid still and coming out of serious health treatment, chemotherapy for his cancer which he did beat, then decided to play tennis as his sport, and still does till these days, watch:

These two other videos today are also from a known person from an earlier post here on my Blog, it’s Tennis Vault client Piers Baker. He is an intermediate player with lots of self taught wisdom and shot variety to put a few for sale and still have enough left to play a match with, a very versatile and crafty fella. I am now on the third city of my very First European Tour Teaching & Coaching in person, I’m visiting Piers & Marissa in Nottingham England. I met with Piers also today at the local club courts, (thank you for allowing us there), and after 3 days of 2 hour lessons on both his Forehand and Backhand, the results are on these videos. As you will see, Piers hits a big and smooth ball, cheers big man!! it was non stop fun all the lessons with you!! I look forward to coming back to Nottingham again next year!!

Last week I had the pleasure to travel back to the East Coast, this time to meet with Sudhir (14) and Sachin (8) in New Jersey for a “2days-16hrs total revamp job” on their Basic Strokes. What a fantastic experience with such nice kids!! I will be very much looking forward to going back regularly to work with them more times in person in the near future, as we embark on a High School Tennis Journey for the next 4 years with Sudhir this next coming school year.

The first time results were dramatic, Sudhir was very interested in “everything”, he worked very hard and quickly started changing a few bad habits accumulated through the last couple years without any problem at all. You got to love a good student, one that is hungry for progress, improvement, and also so very excited about the sport, a priceless combination!!

After studying and using our instructional videos on “The Tennis Vault” for the last few months, their Family now feels that they are finally on the right track and have found their chosen method for their 2 boys, which always gives me the goose bumps “again”!!

Lets check out Sudhir below on both groundstrokes, this after about 1,5 years of playing tennis (mostly self-taught and a bit of coaching at a local club), then a couple of months or so of learning from The Tennis Vault’s Videos, and last week’s 2days/12hours CMOR revamp & tune-up, here’s our first result:

Which one of these is a better stroke, the 1-handed or 2-handed backhand??
In my opinion, which ever “one that suits you better“, suits “your style of play“, suits “your feel“, or feels “comfortable for you“. If there was a better one, then “all” extremely competitive players would be choosing that one. Just a few comparisons here: The 1-handed backhand has more “range“, more “freedom“, more “versatility“, and also helps a lot when it comes to mastering the art of hitting backhand slices. The 2-handed backhand has a little more “control“, it’s easier to “retrieve hard shots“, easier to “hit high balls“. So, the choice between them ends up being personal, again, “whatever feels better and more comfortable for you“. My opinion? Try both, make sure you choose the one that’s best for you.
